About Us
The New Lenox Rotary Club is a group of approximately 25 Active, Engaged Members who are Business and Community Leaders committed to Making a Positive Difference by exemplifying the Rotary Motto of “Service above Self”
Purpose: To embody and live Our Club’s Mission of “Passionately Impacting Our Community and the World Through Service”.
Meeting Time and Location: Every Thursday Morning at 7:00am at Gina’s Teardrop Café in New Lenox. A free breakfast is provided to all Club Members and Guests. The meeting adjourns at 8:00am.
Board Meetings: Third Thursday of Every Other Month. (Please see calendar for exact Board Meeting Dates). All Members are invited and encouraged to attend.
Membership Committee: Chartered with the Recruitment of, Retention of and Engagement of Club Prospects, New and Current Members.
Public Image Committee: Chartered with Promoting and Informing the New Lenox Community of the Club’s Outreach Activities and Efforts and Spotlighting the Community Benefits of Each.
Dirty Hands Committee: Chartered with initiating, organizing, coordinating or participating in a variety of Local and International Philanthropic Activities. Some examples include: Annual Bike Drive, Feed My Starving Children, Assisting the New Lenox Food Pantry, Serving at Morningstar Mission, Participating in Stars of Hope and Supporting Hopewell Schools to name a few.
Guest Speakers: At every regular meeting (non -board), we have a Guest Speaker who will inform us about their charitable organization or upcoming charitable event, various municipal or community benefits available or provide information about other benevolent organizations. These organizations may be local or work in conjunction with Rotary International. These Sessions have proven to be extremely informative and are often the catalyst for Our Club to help or get involved with.
Business Roundtable: On the First Thursday of every month, the Club hosts and sponsors a Business Roundtable. A Pre Selected Topic is chosen and All attendees are encouraged to participate. This is a great way to inform and learn from a wide swath of Business and Community Leaders on a pertinent and timely business topic. In addition, New and Prospective Members are given the Opportunity to introduce themselves and their Business to the Rotary Members. This is a great way to “jump start” your business and meet a variety of Business Owners, Executives and Community Leaders. A free Breakfast is Included for all Attendees.
Sunrise Tee Time: The Club has a reserved early morning tee time that any Rotary member can sign up for. First come first served. If you enjoy golfing and having a great time doing it, this is the event for you!
Saturday Morning Breakfast Club: If you can’t make a regular Thursday meeting, you can attend the alternative Saturday Morning Breakfast Club meeting. It begins at 7:00am at Gina’s Teardrop Café. Again, this is another way to build fellowship and friendship with other Club members at an alternative event.
First Thursday Evening Meeting: Held at Gatto’s Restaurant in New Lenox beginning at 5:00pm. Again, if you can’t make a regular Thursday meeting or you would like to gather after hours for a cocktail with fellow Rotarians, look no further. Lots of laughter, fellowship and fun at this monthly event! The entire family is welcome to join us!
There are other special events, fundraisers or activities throughout the year which are listed on our website calendar.
Exchange Students: We have had in years past inbound students from countries around the world. These high school students come to our local high schools to study for an academic year and live with local host families. Currently the inbound program is suspended with hopes of reinstatement in the future. There are also outbound students that travel to other countries. We currently have a student that will be traveling to Germany in the coming year. Either way, these high school students that want to travel and learn about another country’s culture, life style, foods, families and social interactions. All have enjoyed their experiences and usually stay in contact with their host families for many years.
How to Get Involved: Join us at a Rotary meeting! The best way to get to know what Rotary is and if its right for you, is to experience Rotary and observe and participate in a Rotary meeting. We’re confident that whether you decide to join or not, you will have an enjoyable experience. If you’re a Business Owner, attending a Business Roundtable meeting is a great way to promote your business and get to know other Business Owners, Community Leaders and Rotary all at the same time and a free breakfast to boot! What have you got to lose?
